Title: Maintenance Lead - Production & Packaging (Semi-Solids)
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities for production and packaging equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, supports GMP compliance, and maintains the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing assets. The position may be filled by an engineer with a background in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and contractors in daily maintenance activities.
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for production and packaging equipment.
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability while minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and automation-related equipment failures.
- Support equipment qualification, validation, commissioning, and change control activities in accordance with GMP requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Review and approve maintenance records, work orders, spare parts usage, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Validation departments to support manufacturing operations.
- Manage spare parts inventory and recommend procurement of critical components.
- Train, coach, and develop maintenance personnel to ensure technical competency and adherence to procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance of pharmaceutical production and packaging equipment.
- Good knowledge of GMP requirements, pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Experience with packaging lines, filling machines, labeling machines, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and automated control systems is preferred.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional GMP-regulated environment.
